Obiage & Obijime

Width measurements for most of the Obiage are taken at the narrowest point here, rather than the widest point, so your Obiage may seem bigger than you thought when you receive it.  They are all vintage, so there may be the occasional small spot or smudge, but nothing that interferes with the wear-ability or beauty of the piece.  They are mostly silk; if I have a synthetic piece I will mention it in the description when I am aware of it.  Below the Obiages will be the Obijimes; the cord that holds the obi knot in place.  Following the Obijime will be Haori Himo or Haorihimo, which are the cords or ties for haoris.  When ordering Obiage, Obijime and Haorihimo please use the OA, OJ or HH number in the title line to assure that I send you the correct item!

Pattern: Dark green and cream shibori pattern on plain pink ground.
Comments: Straight edges, some pinhead size spots; the startling color combination more than makes up for them.

OA95 Flat Obiage, Cream and Painted?
Material: Silk
Condition: Excellent
Color: Creamy, maybe palest peach (?) with pink and steel blue
Pattern: Leaf diagrams with pink dots; ground is similar to seersucker.
Comments: As the pattern appears only on one side, it seems almost to be done with colored ink. None of the leaves is the same as any of the others and the pink spots look as if the ink/paint was allowed to drop from the point of a paintbrush. Very unusual obiage.

OA71 Antique Kimono Obiage Obi Age, Flat, Cream Silk. 

The color is not stark white as it appears here, but rather a creamy white.  One slight stain about the size of a pencil eraser will not be noticeable when worn.  The loose threads you see photographed at one end can be clipped off if you choose.  This is a flat obiage with a traditional pattern; tons of uses for you!  It measures 61" x 11" and is $30.00.

Antique Kimono Obiage, Red Shibori, OA48.

This one could be synthetic or mixed silk/synthetic; it has that whispery sound that I associate with a blend or synthetic fiber.  In any event, it is as cherry red as the pictures show it here and it is  in excellent condition.  It measures 54" x 11" and has a smaller than usual blank area at its lengthwise center.  It is $30.00.

This one seems to have multiple cords twisted and woven together for some very nice texture effects.  A good strong pink, it measures 56" x 3/8" and is in good condition.  $15.00.                

HI7 Antique Kimono Haori Himo Ties Haorihimo Cords.

Entirely unused, they are still joined at the tassel end and at the loop end.  These are flat braid himo, bright yellow on one side and woven black and white on the other side.  $7.50.

Flat braid leading to square braid just above the tassels, these are white himo.  $7.50.
