Antique Kimono Haori, Sou-Shibori, WH86.

Pattern: Sou-Shibori patterns of geometric frames repeated over entire garment. Large, splashy pattern in dark red
('frames') and lighter reds and orange tones within those borders.
Comments: Sou-Shibori is avidly sought by collectors of Japanese textiles and garments. It has a beautiful liner as well
and shitsuke are intact, meaning it has not been worn since its most recent cleaning.

This is not shibori, it is a shibori pattern called kanoko; the small squares.  The dyed pattern before you includes the 'bleeding edges' so often seen in shibori and the shapes here are fan frames holding leaves and trees, etc.  The solid pink liner is the perfect choice to wrap everything up on this one.  Here are the specs:

H71 Antique Kimono Haori Shibori Butterflies Chou Chou.

Pattern: Wine red silk haori with a Shibori pattern in white representing butterflies in flight.  Butterfly translated appears  in several ways; Cho Cho, Chou Chou and Chocho.  The lack of detailing makes the butterflies more subtle here and somehow more delicate.
